When asked what band instrument he might like to play...

"I'd want to play the tuba. The tuba ruins everything."

Norwegians in love...

While in a conversation about an unmarried relative he observed...

"True love is a mystery. It has its own building. I wonder what's going on in Norway right now."

Tired as crap...

I was lying on my bed listening to Molly Hatchet and enjoying a few moments alone. The girls were at the ballet and the boys were out playing with friends. The house was mine. Even if only for 10 minutes.

Suddenly Brian walks into the room and it goes:

Brian: "I just pooped myself."
Me (surprised): "What?"
Brian: "I just road my bike around the block three times and I totally pooped myself."

I couldn't help it. I laughed for a solid minute before I could compose myself enough to say..

"Brian, it's 'I'm pooped'"

Those crazy Brits and their canine commodities

We're driving through northern California on our way from Portland, OR to Jed Smith park to camp in the redwoods. As we wound through the rocky hills the car is surprisingly silent. Cece and Ben aren't feeling that great (the drive was filled with turns and small hills), Evie was asleep and Brian was deep into a video game. Sue and I ... well ... we weren't going to ruin a good thing.

After nearly an hour of almost total silence Brian raised his head up and says matter-of-factly:

"British dogfood commercials are better than American dogfood commercials."

He puts his head back down and the silence continued.
